Thalassa!

We are back online!
It has been two days crossing a very long natural reserve on the south part of the westcoast region, and we are doing quite well. In fact we did so well yesterday that we did our longuer distance: 86 kms with two very pesky hills. At the end of the day we were 30kms. Ahead of schedule and found a lonely farm to camp in.

As those who have read their classics will have guessed, the best part is that we finally reached the sea! We have seen a very, very lonely and beautiful coastline where the sealsand the sea lions rest. The weather improved and we had much better moments on the road, but tose small hills are still a nuisance to climb.

On the more negativa side, my knee is starting to protest after pedalling 250 kms on an SPD pedal with no cleat. I am going to try to go to the local workshop tomorrow to see if they can make me a new screw, or I still have 150 kms more to the next bike shop.
With today's biking we close the first big road segment of out trip and get a well deserved day of rest. We have done 370 kms total and climbed quite a lot. Tomorrow we'll do something different, get out strength back and then push on the quest. Think of this as getting to the Inn at Bree and you'll get the idea of where we are more or less. That is, if you have read the classics, of course...
One last line to give you a hint about tomorrow's post: tonight we are sleeping in a town called Fox Glacier.
